Progress report 10 month

Huh… we just noticed Mikaela had grown bigger, taller and louder! Thanks to digital image and motion picture snapping every moment away. We were once again reminded that she used to be 20 inch tall and weigh just about the biggest laptop you could find at best buy. 6 hr after birth (pic).

Mikaela is now approaching 10 months old.

Below she eats Tofu, carrot, and peas.

It’s 1.34 am PST and I’m still awake beside Mikaela’s crib. It likes a torture for me, hearing her cry constantly for almost an hour. She’s sleepy but refused to sleep. She only demands one thing, which is sleeping in my arm.

Before we went for “JUST 2 weeks” vacation, she’d developed the skills on self-soothe and sleep through the night for almost 1.5 months in her own crib. I was worried that this would change due to the vacation, but thinking that it’s not going to be so bad.
Come on….we’d sleep trained her for almost 4 months and she’d developed the habits already, how bad can it be…

I was wrong…Just 2 weeks and the damage is very awful.
She’s so used to either sleep in someone’s arm or co-sleep after nursing…

It’s not a very comfortable situation for me to sit beside her and hear her cry, but I believe in the school of thought that ” If I don’t do it now, it will become harder as she’s getting older to be able to sleep on her own.”

After seeing what a 2 weeks without routine can do to what have been done for the past 4 months, I believe that this is the right thing to do for me, even though it’s so hard….

It’s going to get harder to teach the good sleeping habits as she’s getting older..
FYI, when we first did the sleep training as recommended by our doctor as well as our daycare’s director, it only took 20 minutes in total for her to cry and only for one day. After one day, she didn’t cry at all.
But now as she grow older, just doing the same training, it took 1 hour and 10 minutes in total for her to cry and more than one day.

Okay, finally after 1 hour and 10 minutes, she’s asleep. So, I’m hoping tomorrow will get easier…

Now it’s my turn to sleep since I need to recover soon from cold to get back to my day to day routine….
